The Works of Christopher Marlowe

Home

This is a collection of the works of the sixteenth century playwright, poet, and Shakespeare contemporary, Christopher Marlowe. It takes its name from the record book maintained by the Stationers' Company of London which acted as an early from of copyright for the works. The plays displayed below however do not come directly from this record, but from Project Perseus, the Liberty Fund, and my own TEI renderings from Project Guttenberg. Links to these sources can be found by clicking on the individual play's name below.

The data on this site is organised in a way so that the user can drill down on almost any element, i.e. to see all the lines spoken by a character in a play, select the character name; to go to an act displayed on the graph, select the appropriate area of the graph. Matrices of the characters and the act/scenes in which they appear have also been made available to help analyse the dramas, and can be found by clicking on the play titles.
